7 November 2013 - Arkema this morning re-confirmed that mechanical completion of the CJ/Arkema bio-methionine and thiochemicals platform in Kerteh, Malaysia, is scheduled for spring 2014 and startup of commercial production by mid-year 2014.
CJ and Arkema launched the construction of their USD 450 million bio-methionine and thiochemicals platform in Kerteh in October 2012.
Upon completion, Arkema will supply a key raw ingredient (methyl mercaptan) to CJ for the production of bio-methionine. The facility is expected to produce 80,000 metric tons of bio-methionine and 50,000 metric tons of sulphur derivatives for the petrochemical markets.
